My name is Adhi Kusumo Bharoto, and I am from Jogjakarta, Indonesia. I was born on 7 January 1987, and I live with my parents and elder sister.
I attended special elementary and junior high schools, and a general high school. I was the only deaf person who studied in the general school, and it was difficult to make friends there. But, I always found time to interact with deaf friends after school almost every day! After I graduated from senior high school, I continued studying at a university, but one year later, I left the university because there wasn’t anyone who worked as an interpreter.
After that, I got a scholarship from the Nippon Foundation to study in the APSL programme at CUHK. I am proud to be a deaf research assistant. I enjoy studying and working on sign language teaching and research, especially Phonology, Morphology, Syntax, Lexicography, Formational Structure, and also Deaf History! I hope God will help us to work hard!
